SAGU also focuses on doing the best that it can to help distance students get the most help and support possible.
All classes are offered completely online through SAGU's School of Distance
SAGU's online courses are delivered through the Blackboard course management software. Blackboard is web-based and can be accessed from any computer with internet access 24/7.
SAGU's online courses are enhanced through multimedia content delivered through Panopto Software
This allows SAGU to stream audio and video lectures along with a PowerPoint presentation for each course lesson.
Each course has online discussion boards, in which students can chat online with their instructors and with other students from around the country
Internship classes will be offered onsite at the church or extension campus, and facilitated online
Sites will be free to engage their students in joint study sessions, supplemental lectures, and activities to support their online classes.
SAGU Online operates on a traditional 15 week semester format.
As a rule of thumb, the fall semester normally begins during the first week of September; the spring semester normally begins during the second week of January. To avoid delays, a student must be admitted to the university, have financial aid in place, and have cleared registration to begin coursework on the first day of the semester.
In addition to the two major starts listed above, SAGU online also has second start semesters that new students can take advantage of.
Second starts begin about a month after the regular start. They are 8 week semesters and help late arrivals or go-getters take a few classes before the next term. It is at the site director's discretion as to whether students at the site are allowed to begin in a second start semester.
Course offerings are subject to change.
Students that enroll with low ACT scores may be required to take certain developmental courses.
Students are required to keep a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 and complete at least 70% of the total courses in which they enroll.
A student that fails to maintain academic standards could be placed on financial aid suspension and would not be eligible to receive any federal aid at SAGU.
